SMPS Battery Charger Overview:

A switched-mode power supply (SMPS) is an electronic circuit that converts power using switching devices that are turned on and off at high frequencies, and storage components such as induct-or or capacitors to supply power when the switching device is in its non-conduction state.

 Arya Electronics SMPS battery charger are pure DC battery chargers are microprocessor controlled based for fast and accurate charging of all deep-cycle batteries.  A wide AC input voltage range enables proper delivery of a full three-stage charge, even when charging from less than perfect quality grid power or generator power.

SMPS Battery Charger series are fixed output voltage, current limited battery chargers specially designed for permanent connection to Genset starter batteries. They maintain the batteries fully charged, without overcharging.  The chargers are designed in switch mode technology.

Important Things about SMPS Battery Charger :-
  • It converts the input signal into DC first then it terminates the voltage up to desired level.
  • It has High Efficiency i.e. about 60-65%.
  • In SMPS Battery Charger, Voltage regulation is done by feedback circuit.
  • Ferrite core is used in this charger. Ferrite core is also a magnetic material.
  • It is less bulky in comparison to linear power supply.
  • It’s reliability depends on the transistors used for switching.
  • It is more complex than Linear power supply.
  • It possess slower response.
  • In SMPS Battery Charger, RF shielding is required as switching produces more RF interference.
