Protocol Converters

Protocol Converters Overview:

Presentation1

A Protocol Converter is a method used to transform ordinary or registered protocol of one device to the protocol appropriate for the other device or tools to accomplish the interoperability.

Communication protocols are essentially the rules that define how the data passing through a device are to be processed and transmitted, so if two devices do not use the same protocol, then they would not be able to understand each other, hence the need for a protocol converter.

Arya Electronics Protocol Converters help attain interoperability efficiently and seamlessly.

There are varieties of protocols used in different fields like power generation, oil and gas, automation, utilities, and remote monitoring applications.

Also there are different types depending on the physical interfaces and protocols that are required. The figure shows the various physical interfaces as well as communications protocols available.

In Addition to this Arya Electronics offers the possibility of developing new customized protocol converters

Architecture of Protocol Converters :-

Inner master protocol communicating to the outer serf devices and the data collected is used to update the inner database of the converter. When the outer master requests for data, the inner serf collects data from the database and send it to the outer master. There will be different schemes for handling the impulsive reporting of events and commands. There is a different physical medium for communication on protocol – X & Y, which include RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, etc.

Applications of Protocol Converters :-
  1. Building automation
  2. Process automation
  3. Substation automation
  4. Hardware converter
  5. Software converter
  6. Integrated converter
